Michael McKenzie Grant is a man that has committed himself to excellence without excuse and achievement in spite of circumstance. He is currently an IT Web/Graphics Consultant at Michelin North American Headquarters in Greenville, SC. He also owns and operates a web development business, MKGraphix Web Solutions, which has produced "powerful results-driven websites" for eight years serving many clients nationwide. Prior to this position, Michael was the Program Chair for Multimedia and Digital Entertainment & Game Design at ITT Technical Institute in Greenville. In 2006, he won the coveted award of National Program Chair of the Year at the Corporate Managers Meeting (CMM) in Fort Myers, Florida. The competition for this award was significant, as Michael competed with over 400 talented chairs throughout 87 campuses nationwide. Michael was also nominated for National Instructor of the Year for all of the ITT-Tech campuses and has won other campus awards for student retention and classroom performance.
In 2004, he received his Master of Fine Arts terminal degree in Digital Production Arts from Clemson University where he was the recipient of several awards, including the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Award for Excellence in Service for his outstanding commitment to diversity, leadership, and service to the Clemson community. Michael graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina A&T State University with a B.S. degree in Graphic Communications Technology. He has had paintings travel throughout the state and the nation with the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts Traveling Exhibition, and one of his paintings was displayed in former Secretary of Education, Dick Riley’s office in Washington, D.C.
Known as a dynamic speaker and motivator, Michael has spoken to civic groups, churches, universities, and public schools across the country. He has been interviewed on various television and radio shows speaking on topics ranging from issues affecting African-American students in higher education, to the impact of interactive multimedia on reshaping education and training. His presentations are known to be innovative, challenging, thought provoking, and inspiring.
