Dr. Boyce D. Watkins has presented his message to millions, making regular appearances in various national media outlets, including the Hannity & Colmes (Fox), Quite Frankly with Steven A. Smith (ESPN), The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch (CNBC), USA Today, Forbes Magazine, and The Wall Street Journal. His academic research has been featured in various scholarly journals, as well as publications such as the LA Times, ABC News, The Washington Post, and the Chicago Tribune. “The People’s Scholar” presents a mix of Financial Theory, social commentary, and down-to-earth socio-political thought that is essentially unprecedented within American Business Schools.

Educationally, Dr. Watkins earned BA and BS degrees with a triple major in Finance, Economics and Business Management. In college, he was selected by the Wall Street Journal as the Outstanding Graduate Senior in Finance. He then earned a Masters Degree in Mathematical Statistics from The University of Kentucky and a PhD in Finance from The Ohio State University. He is currently a Professor at Syracuse University, where he is the first African-American faculty member in the history of the Department of Finance. Of nearly 4,000 Finance Faculty in the U.S., Dr. Watkins is one of only 5 African-Americans teaching at a top 50-business school, and the only African-American in the country to earn a PhD in Finance during the year 2002.

Dr. Watkins is also the National Director of the Step Up and Go to College Program, which motivates students to attend college and gives them secrets to academic success. His fourth book, What if George Bush were a Black Man? has been featured in the national media as one of the more riveting statements in modern social commentary.
